Privacy Policy

ApiForge is a free, lightweight API client designed as an alternative to Postman. It is available as a macOS desktop application, a web browser application, a VS Code extension, and a Chrome extension.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use ApiForge. We are committed to a local-first approach — your data stays on your device by default.

ApiForge is designed to collect as little data as possible.

Information You Provide

• Contact information — If you email us for support, we receive your email address and message content.
• Payment information — Purchases through Polar.sh are processed by them. We never store credit card numbers.

Collected Automatically

• Basic analytics — Our website uses Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data (page views, referrers, region). No PII is collected.
• No tracking cookies — We do not use tracking cookies or third-party ad trackers.

What We Don't Collect

• No account required to use ApiForge.
• We never collect, transmit, or store your API requests, responses, collections, or variables.
• We do not track your in-app usage patterns.

ApiForge follows a local-first architecture. All of your data is stored on your device:

• API request history
• Collections and folders
• Environment variables
• Application settings and preferences

Data is stored using IndexedDB (browser and extensions) or the local filesystem (desktop app). It never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a network feature like AI chat.

You are responsible for backing up local data. Clearing browser data or uninstalling may result in data loss.

ApiForge includes an optional AI feature powered by Anthropic's Claude API. When you use it:

• Your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's API servers for processing.
• Relevant context (request details, responses, errors) may be included to provide helpful answers.
• Anthropic processes this data under their own Privacy Policy and API Terms.
• AI chat history is stored locally on your device — never on our servers.

The AI feature is entirely optional. ApiForge is fully functional without it.

Our marketing website uses Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymous, aggregated data:

• Page views and navigation paths
• Referrer information
• Browser type and operating system
• Approximate geographic region (country level)

Vercel Analytics does not use cookies and does not collect PII. The ApiForge application itself contains no analytics or telemetry.

Polar.sh (Payments)

Purchases are processed by Polar.sh, our Merchant of Record. They collect payment information necessary to complete your transaction. See their privacy policy for details.

Anthropic (AI Features)

The "Ask Claude" feature sends prompts to Anthropic's API, processed under their privacy policy and API terms.

Vercel (Hosting & Analytics)

Our website is hosted on Vercel, which may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, timestamps). See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

ApiForge does not use cookies in the application. Our website may use essential cookies for basic functionality, but we do not use:

• Tracking cookies
• Third-party advertising cookies
• Cross-site tracking technologies

Our local-first architecture is our primary security measure — you maintain full control over your data at all times. For data that transits third-party services (like AI requests), we use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to avoid including sensitive credentials in AI chat messages.

ApiForge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us at codeloomdevv@gmail.com.
